Symposium - Peatlands in Europe

From 18th to 19th Octobre a specialist conference concerning peatlands took place at the convention centre "Bildungs- und Tagungszentrum Brandenburgische Akademie Schloss Criewen". Experts from all over Europe reported on the current conditions, threats and latest realized protective measures in the peatlands of their country.

Peatlands also play an important role in the EU Life Projekt Schreiadler and therefore the staff-members took the chance to attend at the symposium. Besides presenting a lecture about the challenges of renaturating the Sernitz spring fen, the 70 participants have been given a guided tour through the project area of the Sernitz.

Life Lesser Spotted Eagle is

an european nature conservation project aiming at reestablishing habitats of the 3 endangered bird species Lesser Spotted Eagle, Corn Crake and Aquatic Warbler.
