life Schreiadler: World distribution and population

LSE's almost only breed in Europe. Poland and the Baltic States are the northern limit and eastern Germany is the western limit of the range. Poland, Belarus, Romania and western Ukraine form a closed distribution area. South of the Black Sea, a second, more or less closed range is situated between Central Greece, Turkey and northern Iran.
Outside of the breeding season the spotted eagle spend 6 months in Africa away from the European winter. There they live in a huge area between Tanzania, South Africa and Namibia.

The entire world population is almost exclusively concentrated in Europe, with about 100000 individuals. There are thought to be only 25000-31000 breeding pairs worldwide (Krumenacker 2012).
